We are recruiting!

27/08/2026

We had a brilliant time at our open rehearsal and met some lovely people and great musicians. We stil have space for string players and French horn to join us.

Since it was founded, South London Sinfonia has allowed enthusiastic amateurs with a range of abilities to enjoy making music together.

There is no audition, but players need to be a minimum of Grade 5 standard. The orchestra has played a wide variety of music in recent years, including Beethoven’s ‘Eroica’ Symphony No.3, Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E Minor with rising star Sharon Zhou, Schumann Cello Concerto with Leo Popplewell (Co-principal London Mozart Players), Bruch Violin concerto no. 1 with Basil Alter (finalist in the Croydon Concerto competition) and Clara Schumann's Piano concerto with soloist Catherine Chang.

To inquire about joining, please email Margaret Hawkins at slsinf@outlook.com

Some of our players performed in the Fairfield Halls Open House event on 19th September, organised by London Mozart Players. Lovely venue, great repertoire and well recieved by the audience.

Here's Liz and Jan, the beating heart of our orchestra. They make sure that we all have sustainance (lots of cake!) during the rehearsals and organise wonderful refreshments for the concerts.
